I followed this tutorial on:
http://www.ryochan7.com/blog/2009/06/23 ... roduction/
and when I kill mgetty, the dreamcast says "modem connected" and then says "ini modem" but then goes back to dialing the modem again and then it fails to connect. On my linux box, im using crunchbag btw, it logs that my dreamcast logged in as user "dream" but once I see that stream "##### data dev=ttyACM0, pid=2959, call='none', conn='38400', name=' ', cmd='/bin/login', user='dream'" my dreamcast starts dialing again. Can anyone help me?

Dreamcast Connects, initiates modem, and then dials again.

Re: Dreamcast Connects, initiates modem, and then dials agai
I wish I could, it does not seem logical that once you kill mgetty, the DC decides to redial. You're sure it is not continuing to dial as you kill mgetty? Once I hear the standard modem sounds from my PC, I then wait 5 seconds, then kill mgetty.
I am just asking some general questions to help perform a better troubleshoot.

Re: Dreamcast Connects, initiates modem, and then dials agai
Hey bob, I ended up doing a fresh linux install on vmware, and then I proceed to do all the steps again and it worked!
Thanks for your help.
I have another question though. I really would like to play quake 3 and planet ring. But I understand those games dont allow Blind Dialing, and you have to supply basically a dial tone. I have been searching around I saw people were doing a swap trick but I also saw people were hooking up a headphone jack to the phone cable and plugging that into the computer and playing a dial tone. Could you explain to me on how to do this. I havent really found any good tutorials out there. Im not sure if I can post links but I found this:
http://dreamcast.onlineconsoles.com/php ... head+phone
and I also found:
http://dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewtop ... f=3&t=5654
Im still confused though, and was wondering if you could give me a hand? Thank you a lot.
And if anyone reads this and is able to help that would be great too! Thanks
I would like to figure out how to solder the headphone jack to phone cord. That seems like the best option to me because Ill be leaving for college soon and I wont have a phone cord there.
