greetings and a question

Post by day_dreamer11 »

:D hi new to the forum. Great to be apart of it. Have a question regarding the s video cables for the dreamcast.
Was wondering what are the best s video cables to buy for the system?
I've seen some from interact, retro bit, innovation and nyko but the reviews are always touch and go. Hoping to get a definitive answer. Thanks to all viewers and those who might reply.

A company called Retro-bit has been making new cables in which I have seen in the Play-n-Trade franchise stores in the USA. These have included Composite Video, S-Video (best of the SD standards), as well as non video cables such as the controller extension cables (I bought two of these and they work flawlessly).

The nyko model is pretty decent. I own a few of these myself. The retrobit, innovations and any other aftermarket brand are cheaply made with little to no cable shielding and flimsy material. Though as its been mentioned, most aftermarket cables usually have the benefit of providing both composite and s-Vid connection which can be a significant perk in certain situations.

The best S-Vid cable is the official one from Sega. The S-Pins on the cable are gold plated and the cable is REDICULOUSLY strudy. Unfortunately, they aren't common so they can be expensive.

Yeah I've heard that about the retro bit cables. Reviews for those aren't very good. Interact I've read good things about and nyko its an old enough brand to trust.
How can you tell the real sega cables from the fake though? I can't say I've seen those selling online when I've been on Amazon or ebay...
