So I'm not sure how difficult or if it's even possible to do this...let alone if it would even be cost effective, but I have a my VGA Box plugged into a USB powered 1080p HDMI Upscaler that works so great, but because the HDMI Upscaler requires a USB Power Source, I always have to keep my Dreamcast by either my PC, or my PS3 and then have to have those devices powered up to run my Dreamcast.
Does anyone know if there's a way to mod a USB port onto the motherboard? Obviously the Dreamcast won't see it as a device to load things from, but I'm simply looking to use it as a power source and nothing more. Is this possible? If it is possible, any idea how much it would cost to do? I'd be willing to spend around $50 to do it, otherwise I'll just try to consider what other options might be available.
Could you add a USB port to the Dreamcast?

You can always buy a power adapter that outputs through USB, that way you wouldn't have to have your DC by your PS3 or PC and have it turned on - and btw, some PCs can output power through USB even when off, you just have to enable the option on the BIOS (something like "USB Sleep and Charge").
It costs a lot less as these are cheap, the only downside is that it would occupy one more power socket.

Yea, I didn't think doing it would be the cheapest option, but I also thought "damn it'd be kinda cool to have A USB port on my Dreamcast!"
It's not so much a big deal on my PC, because my PC is usually on 24/7 as I stream media all thru my house with it. I remember once seeing little wall surge protectors that has 2 USB ports on them. I might have to try n track those down.
