You most-likely need to install the driver for your modem. It looks like you are using a software Conexant modem. You can get the driver from here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Dialu ... o/Conexant

I have Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and none of those seem to be for it i tryed to follow the guide but:

Open Terminal: sudo gnome-ppp
see the name of your modem in linux:

Can someone teach me to use minicom? The na2 user posted how to do but I did not. Thank you.

As I had no help, so I was trying and I did.
With the information in the user na2 post I created the configuration file and ran minicom. It is much simpler than mgetty and without many configuration files.
I will post pictures with the setup minicom soon. I will revise to stay well explained.
