Dreamcast VGA to HDMI not working -Tried different converter

I have tried two different VGA to HDMI converters, but I have not been successful with either one. What could I be doing wrong?

I'm using a Dreamcast VGA cable that works on its own. I have two different VGA to HDMI converters. One even up-scales. The converters work normally if I hook them up to a Laptop to my TV, but neither work with the Dreamcast. I have tried them with my Samsung Plasma and my girlfriends Polaroid LCD. I get the same results with both TV's (no output).


The first converter i bought is a Vonnic A2809.

I thought this would be awesome because it's USB powered. So no power cable to worry about. It didn't seem to work with my Dreamcast. I thought maybe it was because this converter does not scale the video, and maybe my TV didn't support that low of a resolution through HDMI. So I bought one that upscales.


The second converter I bought is an ETEKCITY VGA to HDMI converter.

It outputs the audio throught HDMI, but the video defaults to color bars and has some text at the upper left corner that reads "No Signal". This is normal for this converter if it has no signal. This converter has successfully worked for other Dreamcast users, but not me.

So no HDMI output, and I've tried two different TV's. The VGA cable works, the converters work if used on a laptop to TV. But not when combined with my Dreamcast.

I've tried starting a game with the RCA Composite cables, then swapping to the VGA/HDMI combo, but that didn't work either.


Here is what I'm working with

**Black sports edition Dreamcast. I have blown the controller port fuse 2-3 times, and replaced the resistor every time. Blown from Generic Cha Cha Maracas.
**Dreamcast VGA cable (not box). The cheapest one I could find on Ebay $14-16.
