Inexpensive Phone Line Simulator?
Hey, I always see people talking about how they made their online set-up for like 60-80 dollars but I can't find a cheap phone line simulator to save my life. Can anyone help me out? I've been wanting to get into the PSO and Quake communities for quite some time now and just recently acquired the funds to do so. Or so I thought... Ive already settled to the idea of overpaying for a netopia router (100 bucks on amazon!!) because ya can't find then anywhere! Anyway, thanks for the help!

I would hold off on that Netopia router! That's way overpriced! A few of them have sold recently on eBay for $30-$50. I can't find a TLS for under $100 at the moment but I'll keep an eye out for you and post here if I find one for a good price.

Ah, darn... I just don't feel like waiting for one to come around. Also, why are the prices on these things go outrageously high to low to whatever so much?

I think people just tend to overprice them. They were really expensive when they came out but now they're old. People can't seem to let them go for much less than they originally payed for them. Occasionally a sensible person will list one for a good price.flamingflimflam wrote:Also, why are the prices on these things go outrageously high to low to whatever so much?
Edit: I think a Netopia R3100 might work. I'm not 100% positive though. It looks nearly identical to the R2XXX series. They do go for much cheaper than the R2XXX routers. There's one on eBay for $20 or best offer if you're willing to take a risk.

I have a working setup im thinking about selling too.
Netopia R2020 and Viking DLE-something.
Works fine! Could go cheap, as I have both a broadband adapter and pc-dc setup.
I use them both mainly for development and testing, and its not really that much more convenient for me to have the netopia setup because I use my laptop to capture packets etc anyway while Im using the dreamcast.
