Hi i followed the guide on dc-talk and dreamcast-scene, my modem on my computer rings but theres no ring from the dc and it fails to connect.
I have the 4 tabs open in terminal and these and the commands:
command1:
sudo /sbin/mgetty -s 115200 -D /dev/ttyS1
command2:
sudo tail -f /var/log/mgetty/mg_ttyS1.log
command3:
sudo tail -f /var/log/messages
command4:
sudo killall -USR1 mgetty
Then the log output is this:
--

Re: Help with DC-PC
1. Which Linux version are you using?
2. Are you doing the VMware/Windows setup or just doing it with Linux like Ryochan7?
Please note that all Linux versions are not equal and require certain things loaded/activated/installed. It is also picky about which modem it likes as well as the modems capabilities. I used Ubuntu 8 something (untill my HDD died). That's all I have, but I know little about Linux.
On the hardware side, it seems you are using the correct DC modem or you have the voltage issue taken care of. I use the Dreamcast "A" model modem so I do not have to worry about the voltage being an issue.
Sorry I cannot be of more help.

Re: Help with DC-PC
Using ubuntu 10.04 in vmware. And yeah i have two model A's. Im using an old modem from about 2000 and have another one seems the modem is working fine in linux.
I think this is why it wont connect but i dont know how to resolve.

Something to do with vgetty? I didnt even run that nor know what it is

Re: Help with DC-PC
Figured it out. Either it was i had to start mgetty before i dialed on the dreamcast then took the line off the hook or i changed a bunch of registry keys from this guide here, http://www.maturion.de/dreamcast/mterlouw/ but i couldnt get winroute to start so i went back to ubuntu and it worked +1 online dc player

Re: Help with DC-PC
Great, hopefully, we will see you online. Last I recall, only the Quake III Arena and Toy Racer online games will not work with the PC-DC method.

Re: Help with DC-PC
PC-DC is pretty slow, though i enabled packet routing and got it going a little faster. If a usb modem doesnt do the trick there's a few free dial up isp's or pay a flat fee for a few months. In anycase yeah ill be on pretty regularly do you guys have a sticky for gametimes or anything like that? Skype group maybe? I'm pumped to actually be able to play my genuine pso
