Are NTSC and PAL Dreamcast Parts Interchangeable?

Hi. Happy new year and Merry Christmas (I think Christmas ends next week, 3 Kings Feast).

My PAL Dreamcast boots to the DC menu but the two lens motors (the spindle and the one that drives it forward and backward) doesn't spin. The lens itself move when the close lever is activated. I believe one or more of the small, brownish SMD capacitors in the board of the lens, the pocket notebook sized board, the one underneath the black lens housing is busted.

Blessing in disguise I found two defective Dremcast for $10 but it's NTSC, red swirl. It's motors spin but I was wondering if PAL and NTSC parts are interchangeable? Does anyone know? I could use the NTSC DC as it is but it's good if I can revive the PAL DC so I have backup.

Most parts are indeed interchangeable. Unless you have a model 1 and a model 2, which is unlikely. The fans aren't always interchangeable either. Some are metal while others are plastic. There's a high chance you won't encounter any of these problems though. Just open them up, have a look, and if everything looks the same, go ahead...

Just keep in mind even though the power boards are interchangeable the US one will need 110V input, while the EU one will need 220V...
