Dream not playing backup sometimes.

Post by HarryJ71 »

Hey there, i finally achieved my childhood dream a few days ago and got a Dreamcast! :D :D
It has been mostly a very nice experience, but i ran into a problem and was wandering if you guys could give me a little light about it.

So, one of the games i got is Marvel vs Capcom, but the GD is heavily scratched and i assume will soon not work anymore, so instead of waiting until it dies i made a backup of it, tested in an emulator and ran fine, so i burned it in a cd and it ran just as fine on the console, thing is, it ran fine a couple of times and now i have to keep trying to make it work about 10 times until the disk finally plays, does anyone know what the issue could be?

PS: i have tried a boot disk and my system is a model 2 made in October 2000 in China.

EDIT: Seems like the only brand of CDs my Dream likes are CMCs, well, better than nothing i guess.

You have to fine tune the laser to play backups. Has something to do with where the second track starts on the disc. Tux has a guide and calibration discs i attached

Try burning at different speeds, it kinda depends on what burner you're using. Normally, go with lower speeds like 16x.
