its not hard lol just wipe it on and wipe it off clean. just use the smallest drop on a cotton swab or something make sure to buff it dry pretty well maybe even a tiny piece of microfiber would work best. maybe let it sit on there a minute won't hurt. I still recommend not use other solvents or cleaners even something simple as alcohol does damage plastic.
If simply cleaning the lens doesn't work then there's something else wrong with the hardware, sorry it could just be old and worn out they do that over time. little diode lasers don't last forever they burn out =(
Or its possible that the lens's or mirror get dusty underneath the lens itself like on the bottom it could be dusty but there's really no way I know to clean underneath there probably break something trying lol
Maybe just blow a tiny bit of compressed air under the lens to get some dust off idk. Be careful if you use the Canned air you get at the store for dusting electronics, DO NOT Tilt the can and spray the liquid out!!!! It is so cold it will freeze and probably crack the lens! I've done that on other plastic things before.

Yeah, definitely aware it could just be the laser being too weak to do anything, but since it seemed to be a miracle product when you used it, I thought I'd give it a try
Like I said, I put some on, swabbed it off, and I guess it left a haze or otherwise prevented the laser from doing any kind of reading of the disc. Taking it off with some eyeglass cleaner fixed the issue, but I guess I didn't take it off sufficiently.

It should not ever leave a haze on anything it should be more clear than ever its not a solvent or cleaner its meant to rejuvenate plastics and renew optic quality. If it doesn't work you can always use it for other things lol Like old sunglasses ahaha
