Info on the GD-rom?

I am looking for any and all info that is available that you know of for the GD-rom.

If you know of any good links or documents, please let me know.

My thoughts are to convert / mod the drive into a slim-slot-loading-drive.

I believe, I will have to keep the current board and the laser(?), use a bios mod to release/go to home screen when ejected. Other than that, I'm a bit lost.
