I bought a Dreamcast and Shenmue so I can get ready for Shenmue 3. I've never played Shenmue before by the way...
So I started a new game and played approximately 1 hour of it. I talked to all of the villagers and then hit Y, 'resume' and this said it was saving my game. I then hit the power button on the console and left it off.
I came back to my dreamcast today (1 day later) and loaded up Shenmue. It said there were no save files. I turned the dreamcast off, started it back up with the disk out and I saw the save file WAS on the memory card.
It's a legit game/memory card by the way. What is going on? Did I not save correctly?
Thanks
Shenmue not saving properly?

Re: Shenmue not saving properly?
Did you go back to your room to sleep? That's where the game usually saves IIRC. I think the other saves are just momentarily and get erased when you power down. As for the file on your Memory Card, probably just the basic file you created when starting the game...
Been a while though, so excuse me if I'm mistaken...

Re: Shenmue not saving properly?
Thanks! I think you're right, you have to save at Ryo's bed. As a first time Shenmue player this wasn't made obvious. I heard that if you hit 'Y' and use the 'resume' to save, it only lets you do that once then wipes your save. You have to return to Ryo's bed and save there. Kinda sucks but oh well!
