Dreamshell & SD adaptor issue

Hi,
I bought an SD adaptor a year ago and have not tried it until now.

-I downloaded Dreamshell 4.0 r4.
-My DC is PAL but set at 60hz

When I load dreamshell, 1/4 of the screen has vanished below the bottom. What is the cause of this?

Also, I had the SD adaptor pluged in with an SD card but when I went to ISO Loader the 'SD' icon is dull and unavailable. Does this mean there is an issue with my SD card adaptor? What is the best way to know if it actually works?

Any help would be much appreciated.

I have issues with SD cards themselves, not the SD Reader.

Surprisingly, regular SD cause issues, but the Micro SD with adapter works no problem? I assume it is in the FAT system or maybe even compression issues.
