About to buy the Toro, is Scart to HDMI my only option?

Post by tenchi ryu »

Getting ready to purchase the Toro VGA cable, and one thing that concerns me is that it seems the only way to be able to get those 50 something games that don't work at all in VGA mode would be to use a Scart to HDMI adapter since we don't have that input here in america.

I contacted them to see if something like these would work

And apparently it won't because of different signals. I was also told that most current HDTVs won't show a visual if actually booted in RGB mode from the Toro, its mostly just used to do the 480p trick with compatible games like Mortal Kombat gold. So for those games like Psychic Force 2012 and Plasma Sword, am I pretty much screwed until I can get a $100 Scart to HDMI adapter?

Well if you're using a TV instead of a monitor, you could just buy a VGA box. It switches between VGA and composite without needing to remove anything or switch cables

I'm not sure how much they go for but I know it's less than $100 for sure

I have one now, the main reason for the Toro is the scan line generator.

So I went and bought the Hanzo instead, and it solved my problem completely.

When I which from VGA mode to RGB mode, my Sharp LED television can actually output the 480i display easily. This is so convenient, don't have to change cables at all.
