Dreamcast Humming noise
Hi, So I'm new to these forums but I''ll try to explain my problem as simply as possible. I bought a second hand dreamcast in 'good' condition' off of Ebay and I've had a constant pain in the form of a buzzing noise coming from the console and although it doesn't prevent me playing games it's really irritating and all information has pointed me to think that it's the drive. I greased the gears in the inside of the drive to minimise noise, but now I can just hear a constant background humming noise. It was louder before but I'm wondering now is it worth it to buy a new drive or just buy a new dreamcast. Thanks

Double posting isn't going to get you any answers any faster. Are you sure that it isn't the power module or heat sync fan? If it's the GD-ROM drive, then I would have to day that a drive would cost as much as the core unit itself, and wouldn't be worth the price to buy the disc drive itself.

Re: Dreamcast Humming noise
ok, turns out the noise was coming from the fan, going to to replace it with a fan from the same model(hkt-3030). I do hope it works otherwise I will definetly have to get another one. Seems like Pal ones come with the worst fans with the black plastic.
