onlineconsoles is awesome for getting this to work. I still can't seem to connect however. I have dialup and put in the online consoles dns address for both dns 1 and dns 2 and when i try to connect online it gets to the point where it says "cannot connect to gamespy servers" and then it disconnects me from the internet.

I'm unclear if there is anything else i can do. A thread was created underneath support on the onlineconsoles.com site about troubleshooting dns issues with starlancer, but that is super confusing to me....i am not tech savvy when it comes to things like this.

does anyone else seem to have a problem playing online in starlancer?

Alot of people have this issue including myself. I'm hoping the reliability is much higher if/when petter3k & team restores another/more games.

I've been wondering if it has something to do with my dial up isp. It's a free dialup through juno. On the onlineconsoles site, someone mentioned it could be that the isp is not letting me connect to the dns settings that i inputted. It's possibly forcing me to use the isp's dns? i don't know.

It would just be awesome to actually see this game online once again!

I actually played some single player last night...i am terrible ....need to get used to the controls again.

Juno doesnt work with dreamcast, you need to be runing their software for you to connect. Cant run the software on dc. There might be other free isps to try depending on where you live. metconnect for NY for example

What's confusing is it seems i can connect online with juno. Last night for example i was able to log on to quake 3 arena...it dialed in, configured, and connected.....and went to the master server......

on starlancer it connects to internet, then trys to connect to gamespy servers, then tells me it can't connect to gamespy...i press a then it disconnects me from the internet. i know that gamespy is no longer an official server...but i inputted the dns settings from onlineconoles.com to connect to their private server but it doesnt work.

I'm going to guess that this is the case. Some dial-up ISPs will just ignore the DNS settings.

I think after i get paid i'll go ahead and find a decent yet cheap dial up service...at least try it for a month and see if i have any luck. Thank you guys so much for the feedback!

I had dialup4less before i got my current setup and it took me at least 4 tries to connect. Kept getting no carrier. When you signup for anything make sure you don't need their software to connect. Some do require that

Yeah, the server was plagued with issues for a while so no one was really playing it. It's working now though. We should be playing it for Game Night at the end of next month.
