POLL: Quake III cooperative online play

Post by everynewday84 »

Hi All,

I have PM'd impulse with a suggestion for our quake server: Cooperative death match!

Premise: having two bots on a team so that two human players can team up and join forces to destroy the enemy in cooperative mode!

Sometimes killing each other gets old ;)

Please share your thoughts. If such a DM server existed, would you team up with a friend and take on the AI together?

Thanks!

I would be down for this, however this would be waaaaay cooler on something like Unreal Tournament due to it being 8 player :) But sadly its not online :(

I would play it if it was up.. but meh.. the bots are either going to be too easy or too hard...

I find very little middle ground with Q3A bots in my experience..

even though I guess its not too popular around these parts Id rather see an instagib server personally.. :P

Bots would be good, at least have one bot that we can play against when waiting for other people to show up. There would probably be more people playing Q3 online if there was someone/something to play against rather than sitting there for ages hoping someone might show up.

Ive played the bot on the Zappy server a few times recently...

it would be nice if there were 3 bots in and 1 drops out on each player connection instead of 2 to start.. playing 1 bot on a big map is teh suk...

eta-

obv TDM is a different scenario...

There are commands to add and remove bots but i think they have to be enabled in the server config. That would give players the freedom to choose to have bots or not, how many, which character bot and the difficulty.

Well just recently the Doom fanbase just did that sortof in FFA. I don't know if we should be afraid of this but either way it sounds cool. Now if that be done then how well would it translate into Quake?

The variable difficulty settings, Easy, hard, very hard, and nightmare-- coupled with the ability to implement a client-side handicap, allows for the situation to meet the needs of even the most refined tastes.

Thanks for your input, folks. Maybe see you in a cooperative DM in the near future...
