The only thing I could think of is "shutdown -h now" in the terminal. There has to be a better way than unplugging it.The-Amazing-Mr_V wrote:Is there a best way to shut the rpi down?

Re: Wifi with raspberry pi 3b
You can shutdown it via a command if you connect to DreamPi it via ssh, this shutdown the system, not the board...
If you ask for a comfortable way to unplug it:
-put a interruptor in the micro usb side, on the wire.
-Feed the Raspberry from the usb that is on the tv for pen drives, updates... And when you turn of the tv, the raspberrys is off too. You can do the same with a router, a hi-fi.
If you are asking to shoutdown carefully like a windows system... Dont worrie about it hahha, is linux. The risk of corrupt the sdcard or break something is very low because DreamPi is not storing data on the card when is running.

Re: Wifi with raspberry pi 3b
I like the TV idea. I just wanted to know if there was a proper way to shut it down or just unplug it.

Well my original power supply cropped out anyways. I think I will try the TV usb power to see if it works. Then try wireless as soon as I get a key board.

Re: Wifi with raspberry pi 3b
Any ideas? It can not scan for networks. Dream pi 1.4 and I am using the TV usb port which shows no low power issues.

Re: Wifi with raspberry pi 3b
Ok, have you tried before any other config on that image?
Maybe the fail is on the
/etc/network/interfaces
To be sure that the internal wifi of the RPI3 is not damaged, try to write again the DreamPi image and follow the tutorial again. If it don't work again you only rest 2 choices:
The wifi is damaged, try with a usb one, do you see the same error?
Try a different image for Raspberry to check if the wifi works.
I hope that you get some conclusion about that test

Re: Wifi with raspberry pi 3b
I have tried pc's way as per his how to video anduration I have tried the way you posted. No matter what it says interface doesn't support scanning. I tried changing the command as well. No luck yet.
If I use Finger as you recommend, my rpi shows up as dreampi and does provide an ip address or whatever it is. 192.168.1.xx
I can try another rpi image. But I need to get to a computer for that.
I'm not opposed ordering a usb wifi if it is easier to set up ether.

Re: Wifi with raspberry pi 3b
I had the same problem, and solved it by updating/upgrading the firmware on my Raspberry, as the DreamPi image is pretty outdated, and doesn't even see the wlan interface. After the update everything went pretty smooth, using integrated WiFi on my RasPi 3 with no problems.
