Start from scratch following post #6 and report back. What brand are your sd cards? I had random crashes until I switched to full-sized Sandisk or Samsung cards.
the 32gig card is a samsung evo plus the 256 gig card is a red and brown sandisk extreme both are micro sd cards using micro sd to sd adapters if it matters
I've heard of issues with Sandisk Extreme, older models from Sandisk work fine. That could be the issue. I've used EVO's and they work fine.
Edit: Just checked - I've been using Sandisk Ultra and Samsung EVO Select - mostly full-sized cards. But I have used micro cards with these two brands with adapters successfully.

you can see in the guide where it says (Extract contents of the asset pack zip file to tools/menu_data/ where you installed GD MENU Card Manager. The .DAT files should live right next to 1ST_READ.BIN.) well anyhow i did what you said i installed ruufus formatted the micro sd card 128 gig to 32k clusters for some reason it didnt like 64k clusters i then downloaded the gdmenu card manager you linked me to i opened it and used it un modified meaning i didnt copy the assets or anything i loaded about 101 gigs worth of games and what do you no she boots to the menu and loads my games no idea whats goin on ima test it a few days to be sure tho

Progress.
Here's my setup for openMenu builds. Maybe try it on the 256GB card and report back the results. Don't forget to format the card first with Rufus. And remember CDI support is a WIP with openMenu and it does not support Code Breaker.

heres the strange thing is i format the sd card with rufus then use gdmenu card maker without openmenu installed the sd card boots to the gdmenu and loads games however if i load openmenu alongside dat files and asset files the sd card wont boot so at least i got it working

Make a small openMenu build as a test: https://www.mediafire.com/file/f96hlhki ... nu.7z/file
Download and unzip my openMenu setup to a new directory and run it. Do not change anything in the setup, it's all set. Report your results back.
Hi all,
I have a problem with GDEmu, it worked nicely for the first time but when I removed it and put it back it does a strange behaviour; Dreamcast...

Hi, fixed this yet? I take it this is not an original GDEMU, rather an eBay/Amazon clone, right (not judging!)?
And you've successfully booted into...
