Sword of The Berserk Guts' Rage - Must Play

Post by Neohound »

I think a lot of people were put off the game originally precisely because of the cutscenes. After the cgi-heavy games of the 1990's, cutscenes had a pretty terrible reputation. Some people argued that lengthy cutscenes get in the way of the action and thereby spoil the game. But done well, and using in-game graphics, cutscenes can be very cinematic and are a great way of telling a story.

I personally rate Sword Of The Beserk very highly. The story, characterisation and action are blended seamlessly and make for a fantastic spectacle as well as addict ing gameplay. It's one of those games where you can start early in the evening, get absorbed in the story telling and action and still finish it well before midnight. To me it seems like the perfect duration for a game of it's type, though that's not to say I wouldn't like it to go on a little longer ! lol

I agree that the audio is very well done. Both the music and the sound effects really add to the experience. And, of course, this game is known for the blood. LOADS OF BLOOD !! I wouldn't change this game for anything.

True. This game also has the luck of being based on one of the best anime and manga ever. The basic character, the Berserk epic-dark atmosphere, the story etc. The developers' risk wasn't big. Same for PS2 version.
