Re: Recruiting help: SCOURGE

No problem, it's good to have some discussion here and there ;)

Yeah, the entire scale of this project is bigger than Hypertension ever was. With a better engine come better people, bigger budget, and so on. Scourge is a lot different than Hypertension in scope of gameplay and storyline, and being sanctioned from the start had a lot of us motivated in ways we were never with Hyper.

Glad you guys are enjoying the updates though, it's certainly nice to know our fanbase is still around considering the letdown we gave them. That really hit me hard, and us kicking the idea of a Hyper remake is still fresh in my mind, and releasing two games in one pack should make up for the lost time the fans spent following it around.

Happy you guys are enjoying it!

Yeah, we think artistically this game will look unique, sort of like Agartha without the D2-looking characters, obviously. :)

Just know that it isn't a straight first-person shooter...something for you guys to keep in mind. There ARE segments where it's in first-person, but for the most part it's a third-person game.

That sounds good. Now Iam interested knowing its a third person game.Older first person games tend to make me dizzy to the dark environments

Just a heads up - as a New Years treat, we re-announced Hypertension into what we call "Hypertension HD" - our effort at cleaning up the assets and converting 2D sprites into full 3D models. Not only this, but the story of Hypertension will intersect into Scourge's, fueling my desire to have these two games published in the same package (rather than seperately). Of course, it will be only on Dreamcast.

As most of you know, the game was nearly 90% completed when we had to pull the plug on it a few years ago. In reviewing the code/levels and making revisions since then, and my experience in working on Scourge Tech, I decided to get the appropriate assets remade and to make a release. This won't take nearly as long because the game code is still all there (weapons, enemies, scripts, levels, etc.)...so it's just a matter of cleaning up scripts for simultaneous two-player mode, and getting all of the assets (textures, sprites, sounds) replaced. More work will likely go into building some segments that play off in Scourge later, but the point is that it's getting a release, the same as Scourge (commercial, on-disc).

As far as the general story goes, it's vaguely similiar to the original Hypertension, but it will start before Scourge's story, and end after Scourge in the timeline. Though, you won't have to play either game to understand the lore, though they will intersect at a point in Scourge's story.

This effort is being ran mostly at my discretion (and none of the Isotope/SCOURGE team), so I'll be taking the duties I did on such a project (programming, design, etc) and be looking for new team members to help get this stuff cleaned up for a proper release. So, any help here in getting that word out is appreciated.

None of this affects the current state, development, or progress of SCOURGE. There were worries from fans that it would detract from one project to the other, but this isn't the case here. If we get a team together, it will run completely independent from our lead showcase.

Thanks again guys.

Are there no videos or gameplay for this?

What state of development is this in?

It says that this may or may not be the last year for development, so which one is it? What exactly is needed to finish the game? How much money and how much time?

There's not a lot of info to go off, and everyone always seems hesitant about giving out any info about the game. Is this the only project being worked on right now or is there more? Who is going to publish the game? Why not do Kickstarter? Why not set up a pre-order service like watermelon games?

I'm a loyal fan and just like most people I would love to see the game get finished and get a commercial release. I just think a few questions need to be given out so people know what there money is going towards. Its a pretty common practice to give updates........
