There are 2 versions floating around(the one you linked). One version of Dreamshell apperiantly edited to autoboot from the SDLoader, and the other Dreamshell 4.0 is the latest version. SWAT is getting ready to release a new version of this OS soon, so I reckon we should see Dreamshell 5.0, which I HOPE adds desktop support.

I tried the SDLoader version first, and my dc couldn't load the OS cause it said "SDLoader not found" or something.

Also, keep in mind that some games must be renamed first before they will play. If they need to there are useualy notes about it on the compatibility list.

Just want to say thanks for all the help... I got it working in the end (see my edits in my last post) I probably would've given up if I hadn't read all your replies so thanks again!

Awesome man, that's what I try to be here for. I am not a mod here, but I spend a lot of time here and help folks when I can.

I am a mod over at DCisozone, and it is rewarding helping fellow Dreamers play games on the best system ever.

If you need any more help, let me know. I may not know how to do a lot of hardware mods, but I do pay attention and remember links and tutorials and compatibility lists when I can lol.

It's all working smoothly now :)

Res Evil 3 is a bit too choppy to play but Skies of Arcadia works great.

Is there a simple guide to creating working .iso files around? I tried gdi2data for the trial version of Sword of the Beserk but it didn't work.

just mount the image with alcohol 120% and rip the image in ISO format.

Nope, that is not how you do it. The images have to be in a special SDISO format. simply dropping in an ISO will not work. You first rip the game, which can take up to 5 hours normaly, and then you sometimes have to rename the ISO to get it to work.

I will figure it all out when I get mine, but roughly that is the procedure. You can now see why an SDISO archive is greatly needed, so it cuts down on people having to rip a game that's already been done before. Be thankful we have a FTP server that folks are adding games to that work.

I am just glad Vigilante 8: Second Offence works full speed!

Well, I'll be damned, the bid is up to $51! Mine cost $11, and I'd rather spend that on it and wait a few weeks, but that's just me.

Also, I hope that is from the old batch. I want the orange one without the long cord, I don't want my DC to have a tail lol.

Sorry for the late reply, but yes, there are currently a few ways to do it on a PC with a GDI rip.

To extract files of GDI dumps check these links:

Extracting GDI dumps files
http://snesorama.us/board/showpost.php? ... ostcount=1

Gdi2Data v2.1 (Automatically extract data from GDI files)
http://dumpcast.thekickback.com/forum/v ... .php?t=785

Making CUE sheets for BIN/RAW dumps (TOSEC/httpd-ack)
http://dumpcast.thekickback.com/forum/v ... .php?t=275

Generic method to create properly images using plain files:

Katana games: dahack.exe 1st_read.bin 0 (if 1st_read.bin is your main binary).

To create the image: mkisofs -V DC_APP -G IP.BIN -joliet -rock -l -o image.iso ./dir_with_files.

You can check if your image is correct using bin2boot and NullDC.

This is all I got from the information Tux posted here.
