As Im not really into Quake seeing as its PC-compatible (given the same maps are played) I thought they released that to the public as a map-pack for the PC servers since they were compatible? Either way, we'll wait and see then, be sure to remind him if he does not respond in the timeframe he gave you though!pcwzrd13 wrote:Yup, I sent him a list of games that are currently offline and requested any information that might help us revive those games. He knows he saved the Quake server software which he actually released online after the servers first went down. He mentioned helping a group of people with hosting a Quake server back in the day. Possibly DC-Talk or OC?petter3k wrote: If he maybe has that - what other stuff may he have? Im thinking if he was in charge of the status over the servers, I doubt they only managed one game each? In that case you have a very good lead given he has anything of the kind, but if he has, be sure to ask for everything released on the console in regards to both sources, betas and servers.
I learned alot from talking to the maintainer of KAGE which confirmed its evolution into SNAP later on, and he explained the whole process extrememly detailed, so now that we have basic Kage emulation working which was only for the Dreamcast, it might be possible to replicate the SNAP servers aswell in the future.
So everything people and mostly developers remember from that time is worth saving and writing somewhere, preferably sharing like I have done (but its way out of date) in the resource-section at dcserv.org.
