No need to apologize! My hopes were firmly dashed before I asked

I think SCART is exclusively European. BUT I think you'll be pleased with the upscaling, I mean anything to sharpen it up on a flatscreen is a good thing!

So does anyone use RGB Scart like I do for titles that don't support VGA?? Its basically a scart plug, but where as a normal, rubbish one has only about 5 or 6 pins the RGB scart one has ALL the pins, and the picture is very nearly as good as VGA. I even bought an RGB Scart for my PS2, the picture has been awful for ages as I was using the S Video cables and it finally looks like it made a difference, I can see lines again and the colours aren't all blurred and faded! Definitely think in terms of cables you can buy without messing around too much that the RGB Scart is the way forward imo

So yeah...Prince of Persia is really fun. Very...puzzley.

Looks great in VGA even though it doesn't carry the icon on the package. I would HIGHLY recommend breaking out a fresh controller. Fresh analog is a must.

I've never played this!

Sounds like you're really enjoying the game. It's great discovering DC gems aint it.

You should write a review here when you've finished it.

It's a great game! I'll put together a review when it's completed. I'll address some negatives here. Disclosure for anyone else who is interested

atm, my only legitimate complaint is the single analog. But that's unavoidable with DC. I think double analog would not only make the game more manageable, it would also open the door to more sophisticated stealth elements. However, ragging on the general lack of sophisticated stealth is moot, exactly because of the single stick.

I will defend some other things people might not like...anyone who's logged heavy hours on Tenchu would agree, there just isn't a better way to do this perspective of camera. Bitch all you want, it's a good camera once you "feel it." And the fighting system in PoP, while extraordinarily simple, is actually quite elegant, straightforward, and very intuitive. It is "flavor" not a complex fighter.

I imagine it will get more difficult. So far I would say, if you just pay attention and get through some early challenges, you'll get a feel for the things you should watch for. You could always "cheat" but I have to be pretty stuck before I do that. I like to milk games for their fun value, so I usually save the cheating for my second time through.

There are some things I don't think I figured out. Early, in the tower level, I had to take a shortcut for the return descent. It was a jump that cost me a bottle of health. I'm sure there is a safe way down hidden somewhere, but I couldn't find it. So I can picture it, the game just driving people bonkers.

I have this one but I must admit I never gave it much time if I'm honest, I tried it a few times but not for long and it just didn't seem as good as I was expecting. I might go back and give it a whirl.

In terms of other underrated or unkown games I would suggest, I still think one of the best DC games available is one that surprisingly few people have tried from what I've seen: Cosmic Smash, its an awesome little squash tennis game, the controls are soo simple and fun and its just completely English speaking friendly, even though it only came out in the JAP region, love this little game

I'm eager to play Cosmic Smash too. The price is usually high, and I would like an original. Once I'm really in need of something to play the cost won't seem so bad.

Yes, you should revisit this game. Lower your expectations a bit and have fun with it. I would compare it to something like doing a crossword, lol. Nothing more than that. Expect that, and you will have fun.

Incidentally, I am using one of my deadstock Nuby controllers for this game. My goodness these things are hideous...but they are actually proving to be pretty sweet, considering they were part of the third party shitheap of the era.

I think you're being slightly disingenuous ! ;) lol There's the atmospheric music and nice graphics coupled with solid, admittedly puzzle based, gameplay. OK,it's not going to win awards but I think it at least competes favourably with the DC's Tomb Raider games.

Cosmic Smash is one of my favourite games, I didn't think of it as underrated ? Not to avid DC fans anyway, but maybe the wider public. I used to set it up quite regularly at parties where it built up quite a following over the years. I love the sound of the voiceover !
