Noise when using an hdmi converter on vga mod

Hi all,

I'm having an issue when I connect my Dreamcast to my hd tv with a vga to hdmi converter.
I dit the vga mod myself and it looks great when using it on a crt monitor, but when I use a vga to HDMI converter the screen looks terrible as you can see from the image.
I used the mmmonkey tutorial for the vga mod, but I read that you can use 2200uf capacitors instead of 220uf. Can that make a difference?
