Virtual Raspberry pi

Post by Dostuff »

Has anyone been able to successfully run Dreampi on a virtual raspberry machine (using Windows 10) and get their Dreamcast online? I'm asking because I blew up my Raspberry and thought it would be a low cost solution.

I have tried to get others interested in creating a vm.
Like always No1 seems to care. ;)
It can be done.

although the link you posted works (ubuntu) and ty to megavolt for creating it....
it is not a vm of the actual raspberrypi os..(yes, raspberrypi os is based off debian)
i know some1 will post saying its the same thing!!
well, its not.

Then just load in the DreamPi.IMG
I bet it would be alot slower and use more CPU. emulating ARM on a x64x86 computer.

the idea would be to simply create a vm of raspberry pi OS
https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/

next add the dreampi software and driver support. (for your usb ethernet modem)
you might be able to use on board ethernet instead...
then you have an exact clone of a dreampi that cost you nothing.
make a line voltage inducer/simulator and your online.

some1 needs to give this a try...
I'm not volunteering.

hmm I see. x64 Raspberry Pi OS... Wont run on a Pi... Only a VM... I guess you could take the files from Megavolts ISO and copy them back on over? Use git? https://github.com/Kazade/dreampi

This is what I use to get online but rather than use it on a vm I created a bootable usb from it and boot it directly from an old netbook I have lying around...
