IGN remembers the Dreamcast 10 years later

Post by Gary_b »

IGN made a video remembering the Dreamcast for 9/9/09. they talk a bit about the history of the Dreamcast and some of the mistakes made by Sega and a few of the problems that shortened the life of the DC.

well, at least they said it was good
could've been worse

I liked that they used a red swirl dreamcast with a blue swirl controller in the vid

I liked the IGN article but didn't care too much for the video. I thought a few nerdballs on there were overly harsh to the Dreamcast.

Well, the most innovative things they opted to skip like the LAN adapter, VMU, keyboard, mouse, internet browser, DivX and VCD player (which was popular formats in Asia and parts of Europe), the "actual" video graphics compared to PS1 and PS2, the Nintendo having only Sega titles that worked with their crappy BBA.

The best part is where Hilary Goldstein says he kept from getting laid in order to pick up a Dreamcast on launch

I don't think he really had all that trouble putting off getting laid.

These guys know nothing of tech, they just repeat what they read and report what they are TOLD is real.

BTW - Great observation regarding the IGN thing, Coolinator. They really could have done better instead of pushing it off as "oh, there was this thing called Dreamcast" type of reporting.

Kind weird to see Dreamcast on a "Retro Gaming" section. I remember getting mine and checking about the new games on internet like it was yesterday...
... and I remember my friends saying Dreamcast sucks when it was discontinued. And they all had the crap PS1, what made me mad -_-

Good points, guys.

Other than that the video was well put together and at least made some sense.

On another note, check out Peter moore's Dc recollection.

Ohh, and when IGN mentioned about EA Sports, they forgot to say that all Sega Sports games kicked EA's in the ass.
