Hi,
What is the best MP3 player for Dreamcast, and where can I get it?
I remember many years ago I had an MP3 player for my Dreamcast, which shuffled properly, and even had a mode you could go into where visualizations played during the music. I don't know what that MP3 player was called, or where to find it; but in the past few weeks, I've tried searching the web for a new MP3 player for my Dreamcast, but all I found were programs with low functionality or glitches.
Does anyone have a good MP3 player for Dreamcast stored in a megadrive or somewhere else that you can share it from?

I found the latest official version here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/dcplaya/files/
However I recall there being an inofficially update version supporting sd card adapter.

Re: What is the best MP3 player for Dreamcast?
talking just mp3 player there are about 5 to 6 of them.. here is update dc playa 2.0 that works on dreamshell it's an sd iso
yeah see below
not going to like that you need a serial adapter
any thing would be limited to 656kb bitrate
https://dcemulation.org/index.php?title=DCPlaya
Dc playa has no hardware opengl rendering but is very fancy and uses lua and scripting evne thou it's software rendering it works very well and would be the best all round playa for a normal user..

Best mp3 player to me works all on the vmu
http://to-11.sourceforge.net/
even had bba support whole menu worked on the vmu

no tv needed at all..To Eleven - "It's one louder."
BETA 1 README
Introduction:
To Eleven is an MP3 player for the Sega Dreamcast. It uses the VMU as a display for the user interface, allowing one to play MP3s over a high-quality stereo system even if a TV is not nearby. If, however, the Dreamcast is attached to a TV the screen is used for visualization of the sound. User interface output on the TV screen may be an option in the future, but for now the interface is only displayed on the VMU.
To Eleven requires:
A Sega Dreamcast with controller and VMU
A CD of MP3s (burned as data, not an audio CD)
An output device (TV or stereo system)
Usage:
To use To Eleven burn the included IP.BIN and 1ST_READ.BIN files to a CD according to the instructions found at http://mc.pp.se/dc/cdr.html and perhaps elsewhere. Place this newly burned CD in the Dreamcast and turn it on. The To Eleven title screen will prompt for a CD of MP3s, at this point swap the To Eleven CD with a CD of MP3s and hit A. There will be a slight delay as To Eleven scans the CD for MP3 files.
To begin playing music, select Add MP3s to Playlist from the menu. If necessary, wait for loading to complete, then select MP3s from the menu by hitting A, and begin playing them by hitting Y or selecting Play from the main menu.
The functions of the controller's buttons are as follows:
A - Select menu-item
X - Go back to previous menu
Control Stick and D-Pad up and down - Scroll through menu-items
Y - Play MP3s from playlist
B - Stop playing MP3s
D-Pad left and right - Go to next and previous song in playlist
Enjoy your music.

It is released under the terms of the GNU General Public License and incorporates code from the MAD MP3 decoder library.

Re: What is the best MP3 player for Dreamcast?
I'm sorry to be more of a bother to you guys, but is there a CDI anywhere of any of the good MP3 players?
To explain why I only use CDIs would delve into philosophical things regarding Dreamcast which I know some people here disagree with, but I only use CDIs, and I hope that a CDI of a good MP3 player for Dreamcast is available somewhere. I had one many years ago.
