recently purchased an Arcade stick from japan since the thing is pretty old the buttons seem to stick etc. watching some youtube videos was going to mod and replace them which would require some soldering etc. To my surprise focus attack actually offers adapters and will now make custom front Panels.

will post pics of the outcome.

Dreamcast Green Goblin mod guide I found on youtube. pretty sure you saw this while looking for how to videos. I hate soldering so the focus attack mods look great. hopefully they work out for you.

Re: Dreamcast Arcade Stick Upgrades
Yeah I went off his guide for the most part. Just needed to dremmel some extra parts off cables worked great from focus attack, the only thing you need to do is use a flathead screwdriver and flip the left and right directions on the wires that go to the arcade stick. But all of this can be done without soldering. Now if you don't want to dremmel off the front part you can get a custom front by focus attack to replace the current plate and use all the same cables they provide. But if you want the new arcade stick with hex directions instead of 4 you need to dremmel that stuff out. If you are cool with 4 it looks like you can use the current brackets.

Re: Dreamcast Arcade Stick Upgrades
I've ended up with 3 sticks recently and plan on modding all of them. 2 will remain mostly faithful to Sega colours. 1 green, 1 pink. The other one I was thinking of sticker bombing under a clear faceplate from Focusattack but I'm not entirely sure if I'll end up with too much height from the stickers to get a nice smooth finish at the edges of the faceplace or if it's just going to get raised up too much.
Any ideas? Ideally I'd want a sticker bomb sheet thats been printed that I can just cut as I need it but I've not found one yet with DC game logos on it. Have just resigned myself to buying a load of stickers from Redbubble and diy'ing it.

This is how mine turned it it feels really good with Siemetsu buttons and sanwa stick I did need to dremmel out some parts but it fits really good. the only thing I needed to do was switch two wires from the adapter on focus attack just need to use a small flat head to pull and move. Another cool thing is Focus attack includes adapters for all the buttons etc so you don't need to worry about any soldering. after having a friend over and did some fighting games actually thinking of getting another one and converting. Another thing I own is the blissbox usb adapter which also works with the arcade stick so after making my own dc cable (he was out of stock at the time) It works great on PC as well.

Re: Dreamcast Arcade Stick Upgrades
Well I've done both my green and pink sticks in the exact same way as you, only I've went with Sanwa hardware. they look amazing. I found the same thing with the stick harness about switching left and right wires. easily done once you realise you need to do it. Still not sure why FA have persisted in selling ones where they expect the pcb to be upside down.MikeStutzzzz wrote:https://u.pcloud.link/publink/show?code ... ftzQvg84q7fraggle200 wrote:I've ended up with 3 sticks recently and plan on modding all of them. 2 will remain mostly faithful to Sega colours. 1 green, 1 pink. Have also got around the stickerbomb I was thining about for my 3rd by just using the plexi option from Focus Attack and getting a pre-bombed sheet printed which will save on height and cos of all the stickers.
Here's a mockup of it. Should be with me in about a month or so hopefully.

Nice yeah the sticker bomb looks cool. From what I understand the reason why Focus attack has it that way is because they expect you to keep the brackets or something yeah think I may just need to purchase a second stick and upgrade.

100% that that's the case. looking at their "guide" on the page for the harness I think they're wanting you do it that way as it's the least destructive way of upgrading the stick. Which makes sense to a point but if you're going to replace literally everything else to do with the lever, what's the point of not doing the last bit?
