Is DC-X online? Need to force NTSC games 60Hz on PAL console with USB-GDROM

Post by Sketcz »

Has this ever been put online anywhere in CDI format?

I need it for one reason: to force some NTSC games to run in fullscreen 60Hz on my PAL console with a USB-GDROM. I am playing my DC on an SD CRT. I do not have a VGA box nor a VGA monitor. VGA is not an option - it must run in 60Hz over RGB SCART into a CRT TV

I have a UK PAL Dreamcast console with USB-GD installed and, to my horror, certain American and Japanese games appear letterboxed with a squashed image and slower speed. I have found the following imports to run in 50Hz, but there is probably more:

* Armada (US)
* Bomber Hehhe (JP)
* Border Down (JP)
* Daytona USA (US)
* Grandia II (US)
* Ikaruga (JP)
* Psyvariar 2 (JP)
* Sega Rally 2 (US)
* Soul Calibur (US)

With Soul Calibur the solution was easy: just download the PAL version and select the 60Hz option built in. But for import exclusives, like Armada and Cosmic Smash, there are no PAL versions. Also, for games like Grandia II, the PAL version has no 60Hz option.

USB-GD is capable of disc swapping, since you can queue images. I've tested Action Replay already. It works well!

DC-X is special since it allows you to force anything you boot to load in 60Hz, thus fixing my problem. Someone told me that GameShark also allows this, but that requires a dongle VMU to be plugged into the controller otherwise it doesn't work. So I can't use that. (Someone on Reddit claimed to have a hacked version, but I can't find it.)

So, I really want DC-X. Except it's nowhere to be found. Seemingly no one made a CDI file of it, and no one uploaded it. I found a couple old links, from like 20 years ago, claiming an ISO was available on some premium site, but that site died long ago.

Is DC-X online anywhere in CDI format?

Is its ability to force 60Hz as good as people claim?

Is there another easier option to force 60Hz on these NTSC games, which does not require soldering or modding my system?

Someone told me that a cheap, cloned GDEmu will force all games to run in 60Hz on a PAL system. Is this so? I'm going to email the creator of USB-GD and ask if it's possible to do this with his ODE.

Right now, if I can't get a DC-X, then I'm almost tempted just to ditch my PAL system and try importing an NTSC console. Except I've already installed the USB-GD, a new controller fuse, and a new timekeeper battery, so I'm sort of locked in now. :cry:

Please, for the love of the gods, can someone just show me how to get rid of this disgusting, slowed down, squash-imaged 50Hz shit? PLEASE! I do not understand how an American NTSC game is running in 50Hz. It's madness! The PlayStation never had this problem. Hz was hard-coded into the software.
