PSO ADVICE

Post by Radkin »

For anyone interested in playing on our servers for PSO there are a few things you should know. This has been becoming a problem lately. Players FSOD or lose their items. Make sure you back up your character to avoid this problem. It is best you use Dream Explorer to do so. Another big problem is those using dial-up please understand we have server bugs so if a PC player joins you, you might get dc'ed. I know it is frustrating, but just reconnect and you should be okay. If not, we are here to help. PC players, please try to create your own teams and go into a different lobby so those trying to join the game do not have a connection problem. On another note, lately there have been a lot of complaints of PC players playing on the server and not using Dreamcast. Guess what, get over it! Not everyone has the luxury or time or money to get a BBA or set up a PC-DC connection. There is nothing wrong with that, they still love the Dreamcast just as much as us and they contribute, just as much! If you have such a problem with the PC players, do not play with them or lock your game with a password. One more thing I forgot to mention, you can save your character and everything in the lobby by typing:

/save <password> (saves your current char data on server, use in lobby)
/restor <password> (then quit otherwise it won't save)

there are ways to cut down on the chances of getting fsod, but it is mostly luck of the draw.

A few ways to help avoid fsod in pso dc:

Many claim that burning the .iso at the lowest speed possible will help.

You can use my modded iso to help cut down on the fsods. It seems to not fsod as frequent. It does allow you to play offline quests, unlike the other releases. But, there are some bugs in this release. :(

You can join a game after a game has already been made by another player. (Especially A PC Version PSO Players Game)

!!PC Version PSO player will 9 times out of 10 crash the DC Version PSO player when they join a game!!

Dont remain on Pioneer 2 when some1 joins a game.

Cross your fingers and kiss the principal's ass. <---This usually works

Fsod:Definition when your screen freezes and you cant soft reset!Ok so we have this clear this usualy does not ever happen in a lobby unless it is intentional! As many of you know who has experianced a pso fsod this usualy happens within a game or when someone is joining! If it ever happens within a lobby then it is all to intentional frosen screen of death is a common thing in dc-talk server but only when in game, and a pc player joins it has nothing to do with the lobby's.So...in any event to make things clear you shouldnt worry about lobby fsod's only time that will happen is if it is INTENTIONAL!It happened tonight when several of us were on i lost everything over 65 hours of weapons and a mag and money but everyone else was fine except one other i am not pointing fingers.I am just saying if the server is this unstable T.A.K.E it down until it is stable you will lose more then you gain from this inconvienience.I play every night and have never had a fsod in the lobby -shhh i guess it is those damn shthack boys-Stop trying to blame them for the mishaps and fix the server if the server is truly fsoding ppl!Wich i find highly difficult to believe in any event have a good night.

I was there, but I saw Trip Mercy survive as well as I and one other in the lobby (Neoblast). Radkin FSOD'd later on, not at the same time as you did.

Sorry you are having problems with the server like a few others are.

Hi all,
I don't know if this is related to the FSOD being talked here, but I had a serious problem with FSOD myself.

My problem was specific to the internet connection type I had,
which is fiber optic or ADSL (this internet connection is very common here in Japan).
With this connection I need to setup a PPPoE on my router.
My default MTU was set to something like 1500(don't remember specific number).
On this setup, I can connect to DC-Talk server, but I get a FSOD every time I try to download a quest to my VMU.
I also had FSOD every time someone joins a team I created.

But I solved this problem by changing the MTU to 1452 on my router settings.
I hope this helps someone.

Cheers

Well I lost some items yesterday too, Fsod usually happens between cross-versions...

A pc player joining a dc players game will fsod ( but with soft reset option ).
If this happens in lobby there's no way out and you lose stuff.

This isn't common but it happens from time to time... which sucks...
And before anyone goes saying I did it, NO I DID NOT.
In fact I got fsoded with syntex and lost my mag and money...

My point is... we have to be more careful until this gets fixed...
and try to avoid crowded encounters between dc and pc players...
Nice try you fool! lol BBQ!

Radkin, can you add 2 things to the 1st post

/save <password> (saves your current char data on server, use in lobby)
/restor <password> (then quit otherwise it won't save)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbfTP7IZmRM (saves your char on another memory card, excelent to recover what you lost due to fsod, corruption, .....)

If there are any problems then i can create items using pso pc, this will be obviously illegit because the items are never found or created using normal standarts, but if a problem occurs then i can try and create the items you lost as long you accept them as illegit items.

But to avoid this kind of situation please use the commands and backup to different memory card.
