I'm posting this question in regards to try to know how feasible it is to create a patch for Sonic Adventure 2 that makes the game run at locked 30 FPS instead of the usual 60 FPS.
The reason for this is to test the game on the new Flycast PSVita version emulator.
Sonic Adventure 1 PAL version, since it runs at 30 FPS, runs pretty good, almost perfect.
SA2 on the other hand, suffers a bit, so maybe with a 30 FPS patch the game would run better.
AFAIK, SA2 Multiplayer mode runs locked at 30 FPS; so maybe that could be applied to all the game with some CodeBreaker code or similar, like presented here for SA1? (https://dcmods.unreliable.network/index ... drift-fix/)
Anyone around the Forum knows if such is possible and maybe how to do this?

You want to slow a game because your emulator cant handle it.. The game will still struggle on it fps is not the problem here it's how the game is coded and uses more of the Dreamcast..
It plays perfect on flycast on pc.. Trouble here is psvita port and hardware..

Well, it was pretty much for test purposes. Just to see if somehow it would run better set at 30 FPS.Ian Micheal wrote:You want to slow a game because your emulator cant handle it.. I was also curious if the game physics and rest is somehow tied to the 60 FPS lock...

Worst case scenario the 30 FPS lock would make the game physics go berserk in some way.

Also, SA1 has 2 values:
"The frame increment controls the actual framerate (1 for 60 FPS, 2 for 30 FPS), and the multiplier speeds up or slows down the physics"
Since SA2 uses 30 FPS on the multiplayer mode, maybe it also has a similar setting to use the FPS, and this could be used.
