I remember reading about the rumored Dreamcast version back before the console launch, as well as the N64 and PSX versions that never materialized.
The Saturn could have been a potential target had the game released on time back in 1996 (The Quake-like version that got scrapped), but seeing it run the final version of the game is amazing. That said, this homebrew port uses a different engine much like what Lobotomy used for Duke 3D and Quake.
Also quite amazing is that the 4MB ram cart isn't needed. Granted, this is a short demo and not the full game - Some of the larger maps would probably need more ram or be cut into chunks as was done back in the day. I wonder if the developers would mind sharing their code for a potential DC port that would probably fare much better

Re: Unreal (1998) unofficially ported to Sega Saturn
Src would not be useful this is taylored to the saturn and how it works years of work custom engine it's fantastic work but this would not translated to the Dreamcast there nothing the same even the sh2 is in the wrong byte order and the pvr render would have to fully written even if the asm or c is translated.. This not a port of the game or the real game total recreation..

The Dev mentioned he attempted to make use of the ram cart and it ran way slower in terms of FPS.
Is that because of bus speed on the cartridge slot?

Yes it's many times slower reminds me of sound ram on the Dreamcast it's 40x slower then system ramNo1Dopechampion wrote:The Dev mentioned he attempted to make use of the ram cart and it ran way slower in terms of FPS.
