I've been doing some mods on my spare DC and had a thought about an alternative to the OG PSU.
In my main DC I have a recapped OG PSU with the 12V rail removed (pal) and it's been rock solid... if running hotter than I'd like since I put my MODE in it.
With this other DC I was looking at Pico PSUs (ones built to the original specs, not the Aliexpress ones) as an option but then realised I could do a USB-C PD mod.... anyone tried any of the PD mods that are out there?
I've heard so much iffy stuff about Retro Six's gameboy battery packs that I'm not entirely sold on their DC USB-C PD board.

Re: Alternative Power options, USB-C???
Don’t bother with RetroSix, I bought one of his adaptors a few weeks back and it was rubbish quality. So I wouldn’t trust his USB-C mods. It seems he sells a lot of knock off alternatives to genuine gear.
I currently have this installed in my DC: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/156137661589 ... media=COPY
It’s absolutely solid, runs smooth with no LED and you get to choose the colour of your USB-C bracket to match your DC. Robot_Retro is the way to go. When you buy it, make sure you get a good quality adaptor like the UGreen 30w for USB-C and a good quality USB-C type cable.

thanks for the heads up on Robot Retro. never heard of them before but they've got solid reviews on Ebay so think I'll take a punt on this.DreamState wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2024 4:06 am Don’t bother with RetroSix, I bought one of his adaptors a few weeks back and it was rubbish quality. He is a new builder I think. This is without doubt the most solid build, it also screws down on both sides whereas a lot of these mass market PSUs don’t.
