Re: playing burned disk damage the diskreader?
Hello friend, welcome to the forum!
This myth has been around for a long time. The general consensus is that earlier, poorly optimized CDIs would make the drive work harder, BUT... everything wears out from normal use. Many gamers have played burned discs for decades. Indie developers release pressed discs which have the data arranged in the same format. This myth is way overblown for the DC, it's not as trash like the PS1 hardware.
Consider reading on these related threads:
laser gets damage if reads copy disks often?
Will a Bleem CDI game with only 200mb damage the laser?
Can I use DVD-R's and if so would it cause any damage?
How much lens damage do backups cause?
