Updating GDEmu Firmware - Worth it?

Post by Liare »

Hi all,

I've got a v5.15 (I guess this is the firmware version shipped with it?) I've having an issue where it's not's reading my 128GB SanDisk Extreme (150mb/s). It's formatted to FAT32 but when inserted, just lights up with a RED LED on the GDEmu itself.

Would I benefit updating the firmware or just using different SD card?

Thanks all :)

my understanding is that you CANNOT update v5.15 GDEMU's. It is likely your SD card. Try another. I recommend Sandisk sd cards.

As redjeff76 said, v5.15 clones (or any clones before the 5.20.x series) cannot be updated.

Authentic GDEMU does not use a red LED, but instead a yellow one. Based on my knowledge of GDEMU, there's only one color, leading me to believe that some clones used a red LED. In other words, red is not indicative of something "special".

That said, a solid light after power on almost always means the SD card could not be read. In some clones, the solder joints for the SD card reader crack and must be reflowed. Other times, the card simply isn't making a good connection.

Ensure the pins on both the card and card reader itself are clean, as well as try different SD cards.

Your card is probably in GPT partition. Recreate the partition in MBR with Partition Wizard program or alikes.
