Outtrigger is back online

Hello everyone,

One more game is coming online, this time it is Outrigger.

With some help from Shuouma, I wrote a new open source server for Outtrigger. It's still in the testing phase but some major bugs were recently fixed so it's time to open it for everybody.

The server is accessible both on DCNet and normal Internet using DreamPi, with the modem and BBA. The DNS servers have all been updated.

PS: I heard that my contribution on this project amounted to 1% of the total work. This is not accurate and not respectful.

My time with Outtrigger was limited to the demo on the U.s. Official Dreamcast Magazine demo disc. I think it might have even been the final demo disc produced for the magazine. Looking forward to playing the full game in the coming weeks!

Thanks for your contributions to bring this back online, flyinghead. For what it's worth, I didn't interpret the 1% comment as a slight to you. I took it more to mean that you helped finish the job and that without you it wouldn't have been possible. At any rate, thank you!

Really want to sincerely apologize for offending flyinghead by insinuating that he didn't contribute much to this. I didn't mean it to come out that way (I've edited both the article and video to change the wording anyway). I always say when it comes to reverse-engineering servers, that last 1% can be the hardest part. I know Flyinghead put a lot of work into getting this working and I want to thank both him and Shu equally. You're assets to the community!

Flyinghead has brought a new (and huge!) breath of life to the online community, and there is no way to measure the size of our gratitude for this gigantic effort.

Shu is another guy who needs no explanation for everything he has brought to us over the years. Two living legends who always deserve all the credit and the utmost respect, as I am sure everyone here has for both of them.

Thanks for all your hard work Flyinghead and Shu. You guys bought back a game I have been wanting to play online for years now and I finally can because of you guys. I have two youtube videos of me playing the game online and how the 5 player and 6 player matches are with a BBA if anyone is interested. The first video is of me playing with the Dreamcast member Toast, and the second video is of me playing a: One 3 player match, Two 5 player matches, and Two 6 player matches, with the Dreamcast members: TheCoolPup, nightsb, Mr.Video, comic999, and Hawkzero. All games ran good and lasted their full match times
