A little mod I've been working on today....

Post by spinksy »

Hey all

In my quest to get a perfect FPS controller for Dreamcast I have been experimenting alittle :P

I'e always LOVED the DC controller but always felt it was a aimed more at left handed people for FPS's. An after seeing the dual stick mod video on youtube (I'm also in the middle of making one of them  ) I had my own little brain wave

and here it is - (alittle ugly but nowhere near finished yet)

Uploaded with ImageShack.us[/img]

....so far I tested it out on Quake 3 and Counter Strike and it works ok - alot easier to play FPS's!! (just set the D-pad to strafe forward back etc)

I still got to set and fix buttons etc but its getting there ;)
Dreamcast, it's still thinking.

Hey nice idea. Wish you could make me one, with 2 joysticks though, like if it was really made like that by Sega.

But i think your idea is better. the fact that you would be able to aim better with the other analog and dpad to move is always usefull. you would also be usefull. let me know how to make one of these when you finish. OR you could sell me some :D

Well, I thought the other guy made it true analog, but I see he faked the Dpad and wired a stick to it.

well you see for movement i think dpad will be fine so as long as you can move the analog to the right you will be all good

thanks

I would be happy to tell you how to or to sell you one to be honest!

It does work well, I was never very good at Quake 3 (due to the analog stick being on the left) but won my first game on hardcore with this controller!(first attempt :) )

I'm going to make another real soon - as if i made another i know i could make it alot neater!! its alot of work to make one but well worth it with how much nicer it is to play FPS games!

Hey, yeah, I'd be interested in buying one too.

I'd feature it on my YouTube channel.

In fact, I could try it out on a 360. (Check out my video on that if you're curious.)

If only there was a way to truly get "both" joysticks to work at the same time.

Then I'd pretty much never need a 360 controller ever again.
