Porting Duke Nukem 3D Via chui's SDL/fully porting Hexen2

Ok, here is the thread where we can discuss the Duke Nukem and Hexen 2 full versions.

Now, Bero ported these 2 PC FPS games to Dreamcast in the early 00's. I know he only had the shareware/demo versions working for these 2 games. Now, Neoblast discussed on another thread that maybe using chui's newer SDL as a base might make porting Duke Nukem 3D fully functional on Dreamcast.

It has yet to be seen how well Hexen 2 full version works, since it was stated that Bero used the Demo for the port, so it would be nice to see how well this FPS does with a full version.

My question is, how many other FPS games might be possible to port with chui's SDL, and has anybody tried making a disc with a full version of Hexen 2?

I once tried to follow Pi's instructions when I had a full version of Hexen 2 installed on my PC, and I took the working directory and tried to make a SB disc with it, but I am pretty sure I did something wrong, as I have neve once been able to make any games boot from raw data files and first read bins.

Seriously though, Duke Nukem 3D is one of my favorite games of all time. I would love nothing more than Duke to get a full port! I would try the shareware version, but I have no KB/Mouse to try it.

Do it! Also, get the Marathon trillogy. It has all 3 games which were the pre-runners to the Halo series, so it is nice to have them all on DC for the hell of it.

Hexen 2's Engine is based on the Quake engine, the bsp formats are also very similar.

Well, the thing is it was already ported, but he never released an image of it. Also, he only tested the demo version of Hexen 2, so the thing is, only the Binary files can be found on his site. What I did was tried to make an image with the full game, but EVERY TIME I try to make a bootable image of ANY game, I can only see the menu screen.

Seriously though, all someone needs to do on the Hexen 2 is just try and use the binaries that Bero made, and see if they can get a full version working from it. Dirtydave was looking at it, but he has no cd's to test his work, and it would be pointless to upload anything he made without testing it first.

I do think that Duke Nukem is over due for a full DC port, I mean, Rise of the Triad was made by 3D Realms and Bero ported that, and I think it is the same gfx engine as Duke 3D is. Why wouldn't such a primative FPS be able to work on DC when the much Superior Quake 2 engine does way more and looks nicer?
