If dreamcast 2 was made...

Post by damaster4u »

What would you expect its features to have and what games would you like to see on it?

For me im thinking a mix with Wii and Xbox 360 like awards, online capabilities, down loadable content, friend listings, voice chat, full game downloading, maybe the same controller with 2 analogs this time or more buttons at least, same old memory cards but this time in the Gigs this time, VMU's that have more features on it, oh the list goes on so please give in your opinions.

As for games: sonic adventure 3, MDK 3, new nights game, Shenmue 3 and im sure many more

I'm a sega fan-boy in a sense that I respect their new stuff (to a point), but collect their old stuff. Sega does NOT need to make another console until they get their shit straightened out.

I have all of their (important to me) consoles & games & a massive hardware collection. But I have very few new Sega games (madworld being my newist, considering tournament legends...clockwork guy looks really cool!)

Recently their work has been strait up pissing me off. I'm a sega fan-boy saying that i hate 50% of their new stuff. Bayonetta was a very pretty game, but the game itself limited it, and its Sega's fault.

I had to mute the music (even though it was all "reference" music to Sega's past hits). Its was intolerable. The game was a joke, the mini games were fun, but they tried to force the character development right out the window with far too much eye-candy.

They've botched other games too. I'm a huge NiGHTS fan, but they just didn't get the smoothness of the Saturn game ported to the new one, and the dialog is sub-par for such a huge fan-based game (honestly, they wouldn't have made a sequel to the game if it didn't have such fans as myself, and they made it to be a game-game, not a fan-game which obviously was the initial intention).

Sega All-Star's racing is good... but not great. I like Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity much more! They had over a year to look in detail at mario kart, and yes they made it much prettier, but they made it get boring fast with the limited custimizability. And also, a personal hate for this game, is that they limited the exclusive characters (I own a wii, not a 360 or ps3, and metal sonic is my favorite character....bastards).

They've made quite a few great steps forward (The Conduit is not a pretty game, but it controls better than most wii games, even Nintendo one's, and it has ONLINE play, which is amazing!). But Sega is also holding themselves back from one horrible mistake;

Reference games.

I hate them so much.

I'm talking about the re-release games, the compilation games, the "remember these games?"

It's so embarrassing, its like they are stuck in the past.

One or two were fine, but do you know how many "sonic collection" or "sega collection" games there are? They made them as soon as the Saturn hit stores (phantasy star collection, sega ages collection, ect).

Again bayonetta is a prime example of this. They could have made some deep character development, the gameplay was already solid (minus the far too abundant sexual references). Had Sega not pushed it as a "reference game" it would have been as epic as the original Devil May Cry, and would have made fans begging for sequels, while currently I can't stand to see it even in a game store.

They have their contacts fixed up from the genesis/saturn to dreamcast era (when they had hardly any 3rd party support, but honestly they didn't need that EA sports crap). They still have amazing art style, and know how to make a properly controlled game (ignoring sonic games and SHADOW THE Bloody hedgehog, uff..). Their hardware is always top notch and they make the best controllers ever.

They just need to move on and forget the past.

Then i'll support the idea of a new console...

edit; other annoying things, the Sega-All-Stars games are...novel but also annoying. I liked the tennis game, its great and the characters are fun. But....they need to stop doing "Sega Party" games unless its for a sega console, thats the sort of thing they should be saving on the backburner as a "console exclusive."

Mario & Sonic was a cute idea. But I should'nt ever want to see Beat, B.D. Joe, NiGHTs, ect characters all having a great pile of fun together on anything but a Sega console.
