Half-Life Dreamcast Commands & Cvars

Post by TeamXlink »

I've been messing around with CVARs and Commands for the Half-Life Dreamcast.

Here is a few neat things:

The framerate is locked at 66fps, you can raise the framerate

fps_single 100

That sets the frame-rate to 100

Interesting enough these two commands are also implemented.

fps_modem

fps_lan

There defaults are 66 as well.

These are also there.

deathmatch
coop
skill
port
clientport
fakelag
sv_lan

The default for port is 27015
The default for clientport is 27005

You can also change the autoaim with:

sv_aim

The default for sv_aim is 0.900

There are so many cool things:

sv_bounce
sv_airmove
sv_stepsize
sv_accelerate
sv_maxspeed
sv_stopspeed
edgefriction
sv_friction
sv_Gravity
sv_newunit
violance_agibs
violence_hgibs
violence_ablood
violence_hblood
sv_language

Nearly all of the pc commands are in the Dreamcast version!!!

That is awesome! The modem and MP commands are promising though. Dreammatrix asked a guy by the name of Moi if it was possible adding Multiplayer mods to HLDC, and he said with custom .dlls anything might be possible!

When he converted the Half Life SDK to accept .dlls on the Dreamcast WinCE, he had like 100 complier errors, then he got it down to only 2 errors.

If we got a working HLDC MP, it would be the biggest thing to come to Dreamcast mods ever!

He got it down to no errors, but it wouldn't run on his Dreamcast.

It would amazing if we could play multiplayer!!

Theres still multiplayer maps, if we could somehow add bots it would be epic!

Didn't one the Dreamcast Half-Life mods have bots?

what this means is you can continue to make new maps and content to the game if it's online. I wish quake 3 could do mods like this but with all the cool maps on half life I could be entertained for along time.

Yeah the Counter-Strike mod had bots, since CS is a MP mod, that was the only way to do it on DC.

:D

Why hasn't someone made a deathmatch mode mod yet?

I thought we couldn't get bots!

Thing of all the neat things this makes possible!

I was looking into the Half-Life mods for the Dreamcast, and one of them (I forget which one) uses Bot #4 from: http://hpb-bot.bots-united.com/bot4.html (I believe it was Paranoia that said this.)

After looking through all of them, the bot should be able to be updated to Bot #8 and most likely all of the important changes from the later versions, (Aiming and other things) could easily be ported to Bot #8.

I wonder how Paranoia (Or which ever team for the mod) added in the bots. As well as how Counter Strike added them.

So that means Half Life for DC could run faster and more fluently?

Yes, it does, but when you raise the frame rate, the occasional slowdowns are a lot more noticeable.

Anyway, it is very good news! Going online on HL DC would be impressive. Just imagine yourself, how nice would be playing multi on Counter Strike with at least four players!
