Dreamcast VGA Cable Wire Color Question

Post by Bob Dobbs »

Ok, I just received the DC VGA cable. One end has the DC AV Out connector but the other end is cut. This is no problem except I cannot tell what color cable is from what pin.

Example, there is an orange cable...what is it?

I was hoping someone knew the cable color pinouts. If this does not work, I'd have to have the cable rung-out (A/V talk for using a toner to find the correct pin-to-cable color scheme).

Thank you (in advance).
Regards,
Bob Dobbs

No, the link you provided is a standard VGA pinout in which I have been wiring, designing, etc since 1989. The question is; "What is the colour code of the Dreamcast cable that I bought"? The diagrams that have been floating around gives you pins 1 to 16 of the Dreamcast cable and their connectivity. What they do not show is; as you are looking at the bare wires, you have no idea as to what wire is pin 1, 2, 3, etc for instance.

My service tech pinned it out as follows:
1. = Brown cable
2. = Orange cable
3. = Black cable
4. = Red cable
5. = Yellow cable
6. = Blue cable
7. = Green cable
8. = Violet cable
9. = Grey cable (Gray for those who are from the USA)
10. = White cable
11. = Pink cable
12. = Light Green cable
13. = Light Blue cable
14. = Yellow/Black cable
15. = Orange/Black cable
16. = White/Black cable
