My m8's and I have always had fun outside of the digital gaming realm.
We like card games, mostly fun humorous types. Drinking nights = obvious circle o death, but for casual guys nights we play tend to play Munchkin variants. A few ppl in my group have different versions, I (obviously) have Bites and Cthulhu, but Bites is a long-timed game and Ctulhu has been over played, so I've recently retired these two sets to my dork room and purchased Booty. (I being a game collector have everything related to each deck down to the damn bookmarks)
We do miss a friend who graduated a year ago who had the normal Munchkin deck and the first four expansions.
The creator of the Munchkin series does a lot of parody games (Chez being his new and cheaper game series). I also have two games he made that are rather fast paced and dice basted; Cthulhu Dice and Zombie Dice. The Cthulhu Dice game is a very quick game that makes great fun for drinking (Waterfall when cthulhu wins!). It goes very quick (easy 20x games in half an hour). The Zombie Dice game is also quick, but a little more note taking.
One of our friends has a strange board game called Dominion, which we've played a few times. Its interesting.
D&D has come up once, but our group of people is made of different people, and hardly anyone has interest in it. I do have the Diablo 2 D&D stuff, but thats just due to me being a huge Diablo fan.
Board games are a fun change, and usually twice a month or so we have a long winded all night Risk marathon. Anyone who has a group of friends totaling 4 or more should give Risk (or maybe Axis and Allies) a try, as that is a fun game that can really last the night.
I've been tempted to add Risk to my game library, but there are so many versions out now. The Halo one looks fun, but I believe its limited to just 3 players. Axis and Allies is an old favorite but I long ago lost my game, and it might be confusing to impose a game somewhat similar but somewhat different from Risk to my m8's, as we often alter the rules for our amusement.
I, being a Prohias fan (creator of Spy vs Spy), also have the 1986 Milton Bradly Spy vs Spy tunneling board game. Its very fun but I'm rather good at it, and since its a rather bizarre and unique game most people prefer to play something else.
Other than the obvious card games, what do you guys have to play? Any suggestions?
I highly suggest people take a look at Munchkin games (don't get Bites, its the slowest paced game out of the series) or Cthulhu Dice games.
