BBA Noob... how the hell does it work??!!

Hey guys, just got my BBA today and I've realised that Dreamkey 3.0 doesn't work with it, my PSO ver 2 seems to recognise the bba but I need to dig out my old pso ver 1 keys etc so I will go and find them in my parents house tonight, so hopefully if I get that PSO will know how to run via the BBA on its own but how do I get it to let me browse the net?? I have Dreamkey 3.0 and the American Web Browser 2.0 disc, so do either of those work with the BBA? So far I have had no success... do I need to find another browser software etc?? also does the BBA need to be installed or innitialised at all? It came from Japan so the disc it came with is obviously all Japanese, I have an xploder that allows me to run any region software. any tips would be deeply appreciated. cheers

Ok thanks I have read through that thread before but its pretty much in swahili to me lol. So I've read what it says and from what I can tell it mentions I need Dr DNS... but I thought if you had PSO v2 PAL and a BBA you DIDN'T NEED DR DNS....? is that not the case?

I will download XDP although I'm pretty sure I've actually used that program before I just can't find the last disc I made lol, but I really don't want to have to start arsing around with DNS settings and Static IP's on my pc at home, I thought you could just connect straight forward?? Or is that wishful thinking?

I'd rather use my actual official disc that I bought than have to mess about burning a PSO Rom, I've not had great experiences with burning games onto roms before.... do I really need Dr DNS if I have PAL PSO V2 and the BBA or can I just setup the bba via XDP?? thanks dude

I never used dr dns in my life, just configured my bba with xdp, got the codebreaker save on my vmu, put the codebreaker cd in my dc, select the codes, put in my psov2PAL & sit back.

ok so... even WITH the pso ver 2 pal disc and the BBA you STILL have to do some code breaker codes to get it to work?? WONDERFUL!! Is there no way to use the bba in PAL or NTSC regions for gaming OR Browsing without that step then? I'm guessing not lol. So if you set it up with the xdp disc can you then use the BBA and xdp to browse the net via the bba? Ok so you mention I need the Codebreakers etc, Your sure I need them for the BBA right? Because when I read down the post that Kireek provided there are codes listed but they appear to be for dial up connections:

are the codebreaker codes I need for BBA connection the same as the ones for Dial up? Sorry I hate sounding this thick I just need to be 100% certain as I've previously tried code breaker codes on my xploder when I tried to connect with dial up but had no joy. Cheers guys for your patience.

Extra question, sorry guys! So if I decide at some point that I want to go back and try 4x4 Evolution or Starlancer for example can I simple swap over my BBA adapter for my modem? Once you've setup the BBA to work on the DC can you simply hotswap them or will I have to go through the XDP setup hoop again EVERYTIME I want to go back to the Dial Up and then back again to the BBA? I doubt I will do this often but if I can successfully play online with PSO and Quake I will be tempted to try out Starlancer etc again lol, cheers

Dr.dns is not required if you download the iso image avaiable, but i think you need it if you use a original copy.

you mean the iso for the code breaker codes or the PSO v2 iso? God I hope I don't have to do this Dr.dns crap... seriously I'm going to go crazy with all this stuff I thought with the bba it was dead simple!!! grrr.....

There is a pso v2 download that doesn't require dr.dns, it also doesn't need codes for dial up, it's a simple burn and play.

If you use a original disk then you need to configure dr.dns, takes some time yes, but it's worth it.

ok cool so if I can get the DNS thing to work does it have to be done everytime or is it just done and then thats it the game will work going forward with the bba? And does all this DNS tweaking with Dr DNS effect any other games? For instance will I have to do extra messing around to get Quake running and then if I decide I wanted to plug my Dial Up Modem in again would I have to reinnitialize it again? or once the BBA is setup can I just hot swap if necessary? If its only required to be done once then I might go that route as I have done stuff like that before, but I wouldn't be keen to do it everytime lol

I must congratulate everyone on here for their patience with me so far!! However credit goes to Mazonemayu for being a genius lol, I did exactly as you said, burned XDP, followed the XDP BBA setup instructions from the link Kireek gave me, burned the disc with the codebreaker/xploder codes from that link to disc and downloaded the saves to my vmu, ran my xploder and selected pal pso v2 eu codes then inserted my pso v2 pal disc, when through the usual hoops to get my character online for the first time as he is new (ie serial numbers from BOTH fricking games!) and am now looking at the list of ships! Iselia, Vega, Altimira, how fooooking awesome is that??

Anyway thanks so much to you guys, Kireek and Mazo in particular among others, looks like I'm finally back online with my pso!! Can't wait to start arranging some games!
