Here's a fun topic. Most of us have been exposed to videogaming for some time. This thread is for us to post a single interesting fact, videogaming related, that just isn't common knowledge to the gaming world.

I'll start with this;

The playstation 2 game Genji has under artwork for its cover art. I'm guessing that it was intended to be sold in transparent dvd cases, and was completely unaware of this beautiful image hidden from the public till I was replacing ps2 game cases.

The image is beautiful, its a damn shame that most likely a very small % of those that played the game have even seen this.


What's another completely obscure videogaming fact?

In the Dreamcast game Dragon Riders:Chronicles Of Pern, all the faces used for the in game characters were taken from photographs of each member of the development team. Quite a nice idea I think The secret is revealed during the rolling credits at the end of the game

Talking of which....Did you know there was a videogame released almost thirty years ago called Dragonriders Of Pern. It was on two systems: Atari 800 and Commodore 64.

- In the japanese language the word "Luigi" means "similar".
- You can find an IGN logo on the "OKAMI" cover.
- Activsion was founded just because a few people weren't mentioned in the credits roll!
- The name of Robin Williams doughter is Zelda.
- Max Paynes face was taken from a developer (first title).
- The Playstation was originally planned as a CD-Rom addon for the SNES.

These are fairly well known facts for Dreamcast afficianados but maybe not for everyone.

So you think Jet Set/Grind Radio was the first 3d cell shaded game, yeah ? Wrong ! It was in fact a UK invention (yay!). The japanes JSR developers saw an early version of Loony Tunes:Space Race and copied the style for themselves.

The Space Channel 5 starlet Ulala was deemed to have copied the singer Deelite's 'look' and 'style' for the two classic Dreamcast games. Deelite tried to sue Sega but failed.
