PBA Bowling & Flintstones

Post by Neohound »

For anyone that doesn't know, I'm talking about two games that were leaked out having not seen an official release.

Thing is, although I've got Half-Life and Propellor Arena, I have never downloaded PBA Bowling and The Flintstones. I know one's a ten pin bowling game and the other's a kart game but other than that I don't know much about either game.

What are they like ? Have they got good graphics, decent gameplay etc ? If you have anything to say or have any information on both games, please let me know. I want to know everything about them and whether or not they are worth hunting down.

Fire away.

Well, I haven't played either of them but supposedly the Flintstones one is pretty awful. I think I watched a YouTube video on it once.

Only played HL and PA, so have no idea of how bad Flintstones is, nor PBA Bowling for that matter, I'll bet you it is still the best bowling game for DC by far haha.

I think you've all convinced me that The Flintstones is a pile of steaming crap so I won't be wasting a cdr on it. I was kinda interested in the fact it was made by a team of three including two who were only 19 & 20 years old. The game only took six months to complete with such a small team - not a bad achievement even though the game looks bad.

PBA Bowling looks more promising so I think I'll download it. Ten pin bowling is quite good fun in real life, it can't be such a bad game can it :?

Bethseda ? Mmmm, It's weird how developers go from devving obscure or bad games to vast selling triumphs :) Anyone remember who made Wild Metal on the Dreamcast ?! You get my point ;)

Yes sir I do, and that would be Rockstar, and I get your point haha. Amazing to think they made GTA only a few years later. Wild Metal wasn't such a bad game, I don't have it for my DC, but I dl it years ago for PC to check it out, and it was an OK game, not stellar, but OK.

I like tanks too, love them in Battlefield games, but its not real tanks so I could care less. Ok, I like Alien Front and Panzer Front on Dreamcast, but that's different.

Actually, the first and second GTA games pre-date Wild Metal. But, if you think about it, Wild Metal was sort of their first real 3D game. Wouldn't be surprised at all if elements of its source code weren't used in the third GTA game.

I received a horrible large quantity of bootleg DC games in a lot won off of Ebay some years back. Half-Life, PBA, The Flintstones, and Propeller Arena were among the bootlegs.

Flintstones isn't worth the CD-R it was burned to. Game is horribly buggy to the degree it plays more like an early beta. Still wouldn't be any good even without the bugs though.

PA the disc was already corrupted. So still not ever played it.

Half-Life, svae glitch aside, is very impressive.

PBA Bowling had quite the following some years back. It's the only one of these four games that is final release version. It was said long ago that one or more disgruntled members of the game's dev team were responsible for releasing it on the interent in protest of Sierra's decision to drop DC support when the game was already finished and ready to go into mass replication production. The servers for the game stayed online for a few years too. There was some other DC community in that era that use to promote downloading and playing the game online quite regularly.
