Re: Jet Set Radio Future ?
That would be impossible with out the games source. Also it was planned out for the dreamcast but moved to the xbox extremely early in its life.So one would think it takes more advantage of the Xbox hardware than you seem to be giving it credit for.radtastic89 wrote:Was wondering if anyone ever thought of some how porting Jet Set Radio Future. Re: Jet Set Radio Future ?
I explained the reasons why porting JSRF probably won't work on DC at dcisozone but i'll post it here to kinda point out the problems with this.
1. the dreamcast and XBOXs' have architectures that are too different from each other (128-bits probably wouldn't be a factor in this regard you'd probably need the games source code to get anywhere with this idea)
2.The files the xbox version uses might not be compatible with the dreamcast (IE: the xbox ahx files for shenmue 2 are incompatible with the dreamcast because of different coding methods)
3. The game data might be too big (XBOX uses DVD's which hold more than 4 gigs of data dreamcast games use gd-roms which holds1.2 gigs even if you were to downsample the xbox version the game data might still be too big to fit on cdr I suppose a split release could be possible but why go to all the trouble)
4. you'd need dreamcast boot files (1ST_READ.BIN and IP.BIN) and I don't think xbox games use the same tpye of boot files the dreamcast uses
you can try if you want but your chances of success are very slim I wanted to do the same thing with the xbox version of shenmue 2 but droped the idea after people pointed out why it might not work.
