Fire Pro Wrestling D

Post by DCUltrapro »

Hi guys, has anyone played this then? I've just started playing it and its a good game but I can't seem to get the hang of the grappling system, also the striking seems to be a bit finnicky but I think I can get the hang of it. A Few guides online have mentioned a small smacking sound when you grapple but either I don't hear it and the opponent grapples me or I do but they've already hit me with their move... its a bit frustrating lol

Any tips would be greatly appreciated

Concentrate on using Mil Mascaras as your main wrestler - he's one of the best grapplers and, unlike many others, can change from front to back grappling with the flick of a button.

Here's a more in depth look at his style and moves:

I remember fire pro. After the wrestlers grab each other, they slightly pause, which is when you are suppose to press your buttons. Keep in mind that you have to soften your opponent first with several light attacks (punch, kick, clotheslines) before you can slam or suplex them. I used Scott Steiner or Kurt Angle as their submissions/suplexes in the late game gave me many victories.

Last thing, breathe every chance you get!
Keep dreaming.

I find it a bit random and irritating so far, I can't pull off the grapples at all well lol, and I seem to miss with the light attacks

Yeah maverick is right - don't expect to use your big moves early on and be successful, as it's all about softening your opponent up first. Ultra, I can tell you're losing heart. DON'T !! I never said it was an easy game did I ? Put it this way: The learning curve is acute and there is no substitute other than practice. Button bashing won't work either so forget it. I put in about five hours before I could get the timing right, and then I still kept getting reversed...........

I thought I'd bought a duff, something I just didn't like/couldn't do. But then my young son picked it up, began practising over a weekend and started to nail it. I had trouble coaxing him out of his room, he was engrossed. When he finally ventured out he announced "This is the best wrestling game ever !". He has been whooping my ass ever since at Fire Pro (along with many other games).

It does come to you eventually and, once it's clicked, there will be no stopping you.

EDIT: Try this for starters.....

The timing is like this: when the wrestlers are close enough together,
they will automatically go into a "lock-up" where their arms lock up for a
grapple. As soon as their arms meet, enter the desired command. Again, enter it once and ONLY once, otherwise you will
lose the grapple. If you entered your command before the opponent entered
his, you'll see your wrestler execute the desired move.

thanks for the tips mate, I will keep trying at it, I guess I probably am making the mistake of pressing things more than once and as a result I'm failing the grapples. I try to do the strikes first, then just use the lighter grapple moves, I have landed a few but not many. I think my main issue is pressing too many times lol. If your knocked down do you then button bash to get back up? or is there a better way?

I'm not sure there is a better way. Try just wiggling the Dpad.........and don't press A button - that keeps you on the mat for longer.

hmm... I'll try that out, its just totally in my nature to mash buttons, I need to sit down sometime and just try pressing buttons once, but it just doesn't feel right!!
