Ok. So my best friends and I were bullshitting around about video games tonight and I asked what do you think the 5 best video games of all time are? And, damn, we were all somewhat stumped
It's a tough question. What do You think?

My top 5 was something like this, but in no order...
Castlevania Dracula X (sega Saturn)
Doom (all platforms)
Mario (nes) and/or Sonic 2 ( genesis)
....and I really didn't have much else in mind. And even hous later, when I type this, nothing else is really coming to mind either. So I only came up with three or four, lol, I'll have to sleep on it and see what I can think up

But what do you think?

Yeah, I've had the same discussion with friends over the years. It always ends up with a slanging match/punch-up !! lol

Five is almost impossible for me as I change my mind on such things daily. But just for you I'll give it a go lol

You know, that never bothered me too much. I spent as much time in the free mode as I did the game proper. It was the ambience, those wire frame graphics, the sheer artistry of the game which drew me in. All these years later and I still get a tingle down my spine when I play it.

Hmm, as stupid as it sounds, I like some games not because they are fun to play, but because of the graphics or because I recognize them as advancing gaming in a significant way and I appreciate the history. As such it's hard to pick the top 5 games of all time because I'm torn by determining whether I should pick 5 games I would have the most fun playing as of today, or the 5 games that have had the greatest impact on my life, or that I enjoyed playing the most when they came out.

For example: There's no question I thought Mortal Kombat II was the greatest game ever when it came out. It pushed the envelope in terms of fighting games with its controls (4 different attack buttons!), moves (fatalities), gore (blood and severed heads in a video game??), and graphics: I remember thinking "graphics literally won't be able to get better than this because they have used real people for the graphics!" I also spent a LOT of time playing it. But I wouldn't put it on a list of the top 5 games I would have the most fun playing in 2012.

Really? I might be a bit off base here but I viewed the whole last level as an interactive ending. Then you complete your mission. I always figured it was reliving the memories of the world, its memories, in its moment of death, kind of like the expression: life flashed before my eyes

I cheated a bit as it's actually more than five but Shenmue 1 & 2 go together and I love all the Monkey Island games (although if I had to choose I'd say the original was my favorite).
