If you had to limit yourself to only being able to buy or play games from one region - which region had the overall best collection?
Each region had several good exclusives. And each region had translated versions of games that other regions were left out on (USA got MOTW, Last Blade 2 and Mars Matrix/Gigawing 2, while Europe got Rez, Shenmue II, Fighting Vipers 2)
Even the Japanese library which seems huge and all encompassing was left out of many Western games such as Metropolis Street Racer, Vanishing Point, Starlancer, MDK 2, etc - not to mention, on a personal level, you probably wouldn't appreciate Shenmue or D2 or Skies of Arcadia as much if they are only in Japanese and you don't speak it...
Which would you pick!

Re: Which region had the best overall releases for DC?
It's certainly a good question, but a bit difficult to answer since I don't have a good understanding of what games from my region (NTSC-U) were actually exclusive to me.
Of course, the Japanese library is radically different from both other regions, since Japan is the testing grounds for video games. While they do get tons more quirky exclusives because of this, their versions are often not as polished as those from other regions. But I suppose it's hard not to be biased against the Japanese library as I cannot understand many games.

Re: Which region had the best overall releases for DC?
I'd have to say US games. I'm from a PAL region and apart from a couple of games the US has a vastly superior library. Not to mention the online component for alot of games was removed from the PAL releases making the same game inferior (not that its really relevant anymore).
However I still buy PAL games, simply because they remind me of that feeling long ago when I could walk into a local game shop and see a brand new PAL DC game on the shelf

Re: Which region had the best overall releases for DC?
Good question. But almost impossible to answer, as I've spent a large part of the last thirteen years buying all the games I wanted........from all three regions !
The US has a fantastic library including some of my favourite games such as Seaman, Alien Front and Prince of Persia. But Pal land had Rez, Headhunter, Shenmue 2 and Evil Twin.
*Taps fingers repeatedly on table*
Gosh, if I have to answer it would have to be *long pause*....Japan. Lack Of Love, Cool Cool Toon (plus maracas - how hardcore is that
), Napple Tale, Densya De Go + Controller, Voot + Controller, all those crazy ltd editions including my favourites: Space Channel 5 pt 2 and Segagaga, all the great Shmups I've just started to collect etc etc
Oh damn it, can't I just say all three

Re: Which region had the best overall releases for DC?
I didn't answer initially - but after thinking about it, I think I'd go with Europe. There were an awful lot of shovelware games released for the DC in the US, and I think the European library didn't get quite as many of these. The Euro library has the majority of the games I like - the racers, the 3D fighters, and the quirky - ChuChu. Finally, it got that final run of games released in 2002 from BigBen that the US completely missed out on - Rez, Evil Twin, etc.
I would still miss the shooters and some of the 2d fighters, but I think the Euro library better showcases the DC's abilities overall by not having so many low quality psx ports, and the low resolution neogeo ports (although I enjoy those from time to time). Plus those blue cases are cooooooooool (as long as they aren't cracked)

You only think those blue cases are cool because you are in the States. If you lived over here they would have driven you bananas by now. Ok, they look nice.......what ? you say you've seen one without a crack in it ? Where, where ?
